Just In: US Special Counsel, Robert Mueller says that Paul Manafort, President Trump’s former campaign manager, has attempted to tamper with potential witnesses, according to a just filed court filing.

UPDATE: 550PM Mueller, who is investigating possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, asked the judge overseeing the case in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to revoke or revise an order releasing Manafort ahead of his trial.

UPDATE: 6:08pm In court documents, prosecutors working for the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, said that Mr. Manafort tried to contact witnesses by phone and through an encrypted messaging program.

Prosecutors said that was a violation of Mr. Manafort’s release while he awaits trial. They asked a federal judge to revise the terms of his release or revoke it entirely, which would send him to jail until trial.

An F.B.I. agent, Brock W. Domin, wrote in court documents that at least one witness reported Mr. Manafort’s contact and said that he appeared to be trying to coach their story about Mr. Manafort’s lobbying practices.

UPDATED: 620pm: In an 18-page motion filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, prosecutor Andrew Weissmann called for an immediate hearing to determine whether Manafort violated his bail terms when he and another, unidentified person repeatedly contacted two other unnamed people “in an effort to secure materially false testimony” concerning the activities at the center of February’s superseding indictment.

UPDATED: 627pm:  A team of prosecutors working for Special Counsel Robert Mueller allege in court papers that Manafort and one of his associates “repeatedly” contacted two witnesses in an effort to influence their testimony. The contacts occurred while Manafort was under house arrest.

The two witnesses are not named in court filings. But prosecutors say they worked with Manafort in organizing a group of former European officials who lobbied within the U.S. without registering.
